Challenge
I have been giving myself small challenges concerning the food we eat (No big surprise there). Partially due to what I am continually learning about how food affects our bodies but also to learn as much about preparing food as I can before I begin Culinary school in July. So, for a while, I have been attempting to stay out of the middle aisles of the store forcing me to home make their replacements... marinara sauce, all breads, all soups, rotel, dry beans instead of canned, cookies, I haven't tried chips or tortilla but that are in the near future... I have learned so much about roasting vegetables, kneading bread, exchanging ingredients for more healthy choices... like replacing an egg with a banana or using all honey and no sugar. Substituting whole wheat flours in place of all purpose and so much more. Today I am making Granola bars and also looking for a vanilla wafers recipe. Two more things from those center aisles that will warm and scent our kitchen instead of the factory. Photos to follow. If you have a challenge to challenge me, let me know or send me an email.
