Family Updates and Travels to Come

We are officially Landlords! As you all know we were trying to sell our home in a terrible housing market and we knew that it was going to be a roller coaster ride. We forged ahead knowing that we needed to be flexible and as expected our plans changed. After tons of showings and a hand full of times being on the second choice list we decided to rent the house until the market improves or longer maybe. There are so many homes on the market right now (roughly 185 in our price range alone in the county) that without a garage and the best school district working in our favor the chances of a good offer were slim. So we found a property manager and they rented our place in one week. This is actually a great area to have rental property, with the Air Force colleges at Maxwell and many one year programs a lot of people look to rent in Montgomery and even better they are looking to rent homes like ours since most of the students are middle aged with families. So that is one stress that is behind us!

Update on PHD program - Bryan's core career field told him in these exact words, "we will absolutely NOT let you out of your code if you are chosen for the PHD program so we will not write you a letter that says we will, and what you can plan on is moving in January." He has not quite given up yet, he is going to submit his package minus the letter from the career field and we are planning on moving in January - Destination Unknown.

Vacations to Come.

In a month from today we are headed to Memphis for 4 days to meet Mom A. I found a neat place to stay down town and we are planning to do the Children's Discovery Museum and Fire Museum for sure along with lots of Barbeque and Jazz music. Bryan wants to go to Graceland but I am thinking he can go it alone for that.

And to check off a must do while we live here we are going to Savannah and Tybee Island on the Georgia coast for a week in September to celebrate Harrison's 1st Birthday.

On Wednesday I decided I needed a break from the stress of the house situation and since it was all finalized I booked Bryan and I a room at the Renaissance downtown here in Montgomery for tonight. They have a great restaurant called House that we are going to for dinner. I love going there because they bring out several between course little surprises from the kitchen, things you wouldn't normally try or order but very yummy. And to splurge a bit I ordered fresh baked cookies and milk to be sent to our room when we arrive.

Thanks for checking in. I will post pictures next time.
