We decided to head to Atlanta and Stone Mountain for their Christmas Festivities. It was spectacular! We didn't even have time to see everything they had to offer. Details of our journey...after finding out via the radio that there were going to be freezing temperatures in Montgomery over night we turned around about 20 miles out of town to let Oscar inside for the evening, when we got home the Arkansas game was going into overtime so of course we had to stop and watch that and when they completed the first overtime we decided to listen on the radio again on the way out of town. I did have to make one stop in Target to get Hudson a new dvd player and while I was in there someone yelled out that Arkansas had beaten LSU! That was AWESOME. After getting back on the road we realized how late were going to be for our dinner reservations and decided to reschedule it for the next day. Instead we pigged out at the Olive Garden in Auburn. We stayed in Midtown very close to Atlantic Station currently our favorite part of Atlanta. In the morning we headed to Atl Station to shop and eat before heading to Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain is just that, a huge stone with wonderful scenery and lakes surrounding it. The summer time is suppose to be just as awesome but honestly I don't know how in the world they could top the Christmas display and spirit. It is almost like Disney with a Christmas town, 4 shows, a nightly parade with Santa Claus, manufactured snowfall (however this night it was real snow and freezing rain), carols on a train ride of lights, a laser light show on the side of the Stone with fireworks and food, food, food. You can also ride a sky tram to the top which over looks Atlanta and visit a beautifully decorated Plantation home. We actually had time for 1/4 of that and can not wait to return for the rest. Problem is we are running out of weekends before our next out of town trip after Santa comes.
